

Glenn Giles
Dr. Glenn W. Giles is a dedicated biblical scholar, professor, and church leader with a rich academic and ministry background spanning over five decades. He holds advanced degrees in both biblical studies and the sciences, including a Ph.D. in Biblical Studies from Trinity Theological Seminary, a Th.M. in New Testament from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and an M.Div. in New Testament from Lincoln Christian Seminary. His educational journey also includes studies in pharmacy and physical sciences, reflecting his broad intellectual pursuits. He has completed a doctoral residency in Religious Studies at Marquette University and holds a B.S. in Pharmacy from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.
Dr. Giles has served as the President and Professor of Bible and Theology at Mountain Theological Seminary in Denver, Colorado, since 2009. His teaching career also includes roles as a Greek teaching assistant and adjunct professor at institutions such as Lincoln Christian University and Marquette University. In ministry, Dr. Giles has faithfully served as a minister, teacher, and elder in various congregations, most notably the Denver Church of Christ, where he has been a teacher since 2000 and an elder since 2008. Married to his wife Linda for 52 years, they have raised three children who are all disciples of Christ and are proud grandparents to five grandchildren.

There is a yearning among our ICOC people for developing close enriching relationships different from the old discipling manner. Jesus illustrates and others in the Bible teach incredible Emotional Intelligence which can guide us in our journey to fulfill this yearning. FLAN is being offered in this class as a new safe refreshing discipleship practice whereby disciples grow in their Emotional Intelligence becoming more like Jesus by learning and practicing in a structured safe setting, the skills of (1) discovering and naming one's own emotions or feelings, (2) actively listening, (3) attuning and asking gentle curious non-judgmental questions, (4) and relying on each other and the Holy Spirit to help determine what is needed for growth in each one's maturity in Christ.
