Ron Hammer

Dr. Ron Hammer became a disciple in 1988 in Toronto and has served in the full-time ministry for 35 years. His journey has taken him from Toronto to Los Angeles and now to Gateway City Church in St. Louis, where he continues to serve faithfully. He holds a Doctor of Ministry in Missional Leadership and Spiritual Formation from Lipscomb University. Ron has been married to his wife, Cheryl, for 35 years. Together they have two sons, two daughters-in-law, and three beloved grandchildren.

Face-to-Face Ministry as a Source of Life and Renewal of Community in the Church

Increased digital engagement at the cost of in-person interactions has negatively impacted communal life in the church. Amid an increase in online connectivity, relational connections have suffered as church members add more and more to their already busy schedules. Research has revealed how a purposeful increase in face-to-face communication has strengthened both horizontal connections with others and vertical connections with God. Meeting together can supply relational life and a renewal of community in the church.
